THRIVING YOUTH LAB
DEPARTMENT OF PSYCHOLOGY
NC STATE UNIVERSITY

The Thriving Youth Lab at NC State University studies complete social and emotional well-being among children and adolescents. We take assets-based and transactional-ecological approaches and are interested in how intrapersonal, interpersonal, and contextual factors interact and relate to the development and well-being of students, families, and teachers from diverse cultural backgrounds. Our current projects include 1) universal social-emotional screening and interventions for early identification and prevention, 2) cross-cultural explorations of protective and risk factors for complete mental health among children and teachers, 3) development and validation of psychological measures such as school connectedness among teachers, and 4) diversity and inclusion in school psychology scholarship and training. Current students' research projects focus on childhood trauma, help-seeking behaviors, risk behavior engagement, and bullying victimization considering the intersectionality of identities.
